How fast can you describe your business? If you’re in an elevator, can you give a perfect stranger an idea of how he or she could benefit from your healing or psychic services? If not, get in front of a mirror and get to practicing.
Many lightworkers cringe when they hear the word ‘marketing.’ Yet, marketing is simply educating people about how they can benefit from your services. You don’t always have a lot of time to educate people. In fact, most times, you’ll only have a matter of minutes. So it’s good to think in advance about how you’ll describe yourself, and make sure your description is as efficient as possible.
To make sure your elevator speech is as effective as possible, make sure of the following:
Focus on what the customer will get. One mistake many business owners make is they describe what they do rather than how the customer will benefit from the service. For example, you might say, “I read Akashic Records for people,” when the better description would be, “I help people to understand what’s in their Akashic Records and how that information can help them.” See the difference? When you tell people how they will benefit from your service, they can quickly see why it would behoove them to try out your services.
Keep it short and sweet. People are busy and they’re the recipients of all kinds of competing information. You want to present your information quickly, or else people may tune out. Be able to describe the benefits of your business in five minutes or less. In fact, you might want to have variations of your description that can be given in five minutes, four minutes – even two minutes. Being able to describe your business in all types of situations not only can help your business, but it ensures that as many people as possible can benefit from your service.
Practice your delivery. There’s nothing wrong with being prepared. In fact, preparation is key to most of life’s successes. Remember when you were a kid singing in front of the mirror? Take that strategy and apply it to your lightworker business. Get in front of the mirror and practice talking about your business until it’s second nature and you’re comfortable describing it. Pay attention to the expressions you use and your body language making sure to use ‘open body language’ — don’t cross your arms or legs. Be welcoming to the potential customers you come across.
Have marketing materials at the ready. How will people be able to get in touch with you later? Do you have business cards that you can hand out? If you don’t have any, get some.
