If you don’t think you need a media plan, consider this. More and more mainstream newspapers and magazines are writing about holistic and metaphysical topics. Intuition, Law of Attraction and Reiki have been covered in such publications as The Washington Post, Ladies Home Journal and Real Simple Magazines. There are even some magazines that cover holistic topics regularly. Because of all of this interest from the mainstream media, every lightworker should have a media plan or they’re letting a good opportunity pass them by. For example, Law of Attraction Magazine comes out periodically with articles on using the LOA in matters of health, money, career and love. It features advice from LOA practitioners and other lightworkers who have had success with Law of Attraction principles. If you thumb through the pages of the magazine, you’ll find that most of the articles are not written by journalists, but rather by holistic professionals. Can you envision yourself contributing to the magazine’s pages? There’s no reason you can’t.
Success Magazine is another publication that focuses on the Law of Attraction and the power of thought when it comes to success. Referred to as ‘your personal development source,’ the magazine regularly covers such topics as fitness, relationships, and well-being with a metaphysical slant. A list of contributors to the magazine reads like a who’s who in Spirituality and New Thought, including such thinkers as Jack Canfield, Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer. Yes, there’s room in there for you.
Yoga Journal is probably well-known to those of you who are yoga practitioners. The magazine not only provides articles on yoga techniques, but it gives advice on nutrition, fitness and motivation. The magazine regularly features interviews with yoga instructors around the world. Why can’t you be one of them?
Spirituality and Health provides articles on how to live a more meaningful life using metaphysical principles. Topics covered include meditation, healing, yoga, relationships, intuition, diet and nutrition. How many lightworkers do you know who can fill those pages with their ideas and experiences? Include yourself in that number.
Whole Living magazine covers natural living with a focus on the environment, the mind-body connection and general well-being. It frequently features interviews with and stories about lightworkers and how they are making the world a better place. Your story would fit right in.
O Magazine covers a lot of metaphysical topics, which isn’t surprising since Oprah Winfrey has always shown her interest in holistic topics. Again, the magazine features interviews with lightworkers, and also covers topics that lightworkers are experts in such as gratitude, meditation and yoga. Wouldn’t you love to share your expertise?
Creating a lightworker media plan
So there’s no shortage of journalists who are looking for lightworkers to feature in their pages. The key is learning how to get your business in front of them. Some lightworkers may find self-promotion to be difficult, and there is an element of self-promotion involved with getting your name in front of the media. Some ways to make yourself known include creating a press release, launching a blog, and using social media to get the word out.
Lightworkers aren’t like other business owners in that lightworkers work following spiritual principles. The main goal isn’t to grow the business at all costs; the main goal is to spread the word about our businesses to the people who are in alignment with it and who will benefit the most from it.
