Cashing in on Doomsday Scenarios

So are psychics, astrologers, and other lightworkers seeing a spike in business as we move closer to December 21, 2012? According to an article by the Times of India, the answer is a resounding ‘yes.’

The article goes on to say that astrologers and numerologists are reporting a nearly 20 percent increase in business in the past few weeks as customers come in wanting to know what will happen on December 21. The end of the year is typically a busy time for lightworkers, as people look for insights into the year ahead, but with the approach of December 21, there are other concerns spurring much of the increased business. December 21, 2012 is the date in which a 5,125-year-long cycle ends.

This cycle is referred to as the Maya Long Count Calendar. While many believe that this marks a time of spiritual transformation, many people fear that it marks the end of the world. Even the White House has chimed in on the issue, saying that unfounded rumors of the world coming to an end have led to fears particularly among children.

Most lightworkers fall in the former camp that expects this to usher in a new spiritual transformation, and there is an opportunity to educate customers about what this means for them. Such information isn’t just relevant to December 21, 2012. On the contrary, there is guidance and advice that can be given to customers throughout the coming year about the shifts in consciousness that are taking place across the planet.

A couple of suggestions for lightworkers:

  • Host a workshop, teleclass, or webinar on what this New Age means to all of us and how we can make the most of it. The workshop can be set for the beginning of the year, but you can start advertising it now since December 21 is sparking much attention.
  • Reach out to customers with a newsletter or email, explaining the significance of December 21, simply as a means of educating and connecting with clients. It also serves as a marketing message — a reminder of you and your business to your clients.

One thing you should not do: Don’t add to the scare tactics, and don’t use fear to try to lure people to see you before that date. Karma is a huge component in the success of a lightworker’s business. Your good will and reassurance will go a long way.
